Core contribution to Product Development Partnerships (PDPs), in particular Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV) and Innovative Vector Control Consortium (IVCC)

  • Research and development of new products to treat and control malaria
  • PDP involving private, public sector, industry, philanthropy.

Project 2

Netcell strengthening malaria control in Tanzania

  • reduce illness and deaths caused by malaria by supporting National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) within the Ministry of Health
  • technical assistance to the National Malaria Control provided by Swiss TPH
  • contribution to reducing childhood mortality by 63% over the past two decades.

Population covered: 5.3 million (11% of Tanzanian population); Malaria deaths reduced by 50% between 2005-2016; 87 million nets distributed, saving approx. 60,000 lives of children < 5 years
